BIBLIOGRAPHIE DE L'ARCHITECTURE EN PIERRE SÈCHE DE MALTE A bibliography of the dry stone architecture of Malta Liste compilée par / A list compiled by Christian Lassure L'Ile de Malte présente une remarquable architecture de pierre sèche. Les constructions y ont pour nom girna, au pluriel giren. L'ouvrage de référence en la matière est le livre de Michael Fsadani, The Girna. The Maltese Corbelled Stone Hut, paru en 1992. Nous y avons puisé une bonne partie des références de la présente bibliographie.
The Island of Malta boasts an outstanding dry stone architecture. The stone huts there are called "girna" in the singular, "giren" in the plural. The must-have work on the subject is that of Michael Fsadani : "The Girna. The Maltese Corbelled Stone Hut," published in 1992. That writer claims that "no foreign scholar has ever written about the giren of Malta," thus obviously overlooking the publishing by CERAV, as early as 1982, of a detailed review of the article that Dr Cassar had contributed to the anthropological journal Man in 1961.
